FMA Art, "Snow" (G) and "Scars" (R), Roy/Ed

Art dump time. The first picture is G, the second one is R and linked (so this post is still work safe).

Snow

Ed's supposed to be reaching up to catch snowflakes, but it kinda doesn't look like it. The foreshortening on his arm kinda failed ^^;. Even with a reference it failed.

Pose referenced in Poser Figure Artist, sketched out and inked by hand, colored in Photoshop. Luckily the coloring does a pretty good job of camouflaging the wonky places in my inking.

Scars

Rated R for nudity and implications.

Ed's hand and Roy's pose gave me fits. Also did some referencing in Poser Figure Artist for this (although I felt a bit pedo, since I had to use the child model for Ed c_c;).

Done with Prismacolor pencils, mostly for the practice. Figure Artist was used for the lighting.

Now I really like the Scars picture. Very different and the shading, etc. Excellent job. Love Roy's face in the snow pic :D

What I really liked most about Ed was his automail missing and showing the actual ports ... now that was awesome. Very few people ever do that :D .. I often wonder IF we will ever see what Roy's eye looks like under the patch in the manga, if it goes to that ending that is.

There's very few references for what the port is supposed to look like, too. Arakawa always seems to either have him turned away or cover it up at least part way -_-;. And frankly, it doesn't really match with what the back of his shoulder looks like when the arm's attached. Argh...

O_o? Is it just me or does Ed in the Snow picture look like he has fangs? Also, it doesn't come across as tho Ed is reaching to catch a snowflake as there is no indication that it is snowing or has snowed. He just looks like he's waving or something. not bad tho. The Scars picture is very well done. It makes me wince a little bit wondering how Ed lost both pieces of automail like this. ouch! Winry's gonna kill him! :) Oh, your sidebar pic is pretty cool! nice job!

Haha XD! The fangs are from the wonky inking! Although I don't think it's his teeth so much as the line of his lower lip.

I used a Photoshop brush to put white spatters across the picture, but I think they came out too transparent. They're there, if you look closely. They show up best against the coats. But you're right, it doesn't really look like snow.
