I started the new job, and it's going fine, although right now I am *ahem* a LITTLE BIT peeved at my schedule being changed from a 6:00-10:30 (that's AM, folks) shift to a 4:30-9:30 (PM) yesterday without my knowledge, but other than that. I'm working in the print center at the local OfficeMax, so I get to work with printers and trimmers and laminators and binders (when I'm not working the floor or the cash register). And yeah, I'm horribly under-employed, but at least it's money coming in. I'm still adjusting to the new schedule, which is why I've been even more MIA than usual. I've been spending the majority of my free time making food or working on a sewing commission I need to finish up and have barley sat down at the computer.

And also, last weekend was SacAnime and we had a blast! I mean, the panels all looked lame, there was no art gallery, and the Dealer's Hall and Artist's Alley were in the same room (which is still think is a poor design), but 75% of the reason I go to cons anymore is to hang out with folk and that was awesome. Tierfal is amazing and sweet and the most adorably huggable Ed you ever saw, and I got to meet Mthaytr and Inkdropfox (who IS Alfons Heinderich), and we took lots of shippy pictures and generally goofed around. (Some of which you've probably seen if you're on my Facebook, because tumblr mobile's latest update apparently decided to turn on the crosspost feature without telling me. ^^;) I'm in the process of putting them all up on flickr and I can link the albums here, too, if anyone's interested. AND ALSO I got to meet Hacha who gave me arts!!! These ones!! Everyone was super sweet and we all had a great time.

Still playing catch-up with Life. Hope everyone is doing well, and I'll try to peek in a little more. I'm also trying to find some time to write, because it's been a little too crazy and my fics have all decided to hit complications all at once.

comments

For those not on Tumblr or who haven't seen this yet:

Since the FMA 2003 ten year anniversary is coming up...

What if in addition to celebrating October 3rd, we celebrate October 4th?

October 4th, 2003 is the day the first episode of Fullmetal Alchemist aired. Since it doesn’t look like BONES is going to throw confetti <s>and since the fandom in general continues to prove itself real classy with its behavior towards first anime fans</s>, I figured we could participate in something that is a celebration of FMA, specifically the first anime.

While we’d observe the usual October 3rd memorial for the franchise as a whole, we could post art, fics, graphics, videos, etc that are specific to Fullmetal Alchemist (2003) on the following day, the 4th of October.

What do you guys say? Project don’t.forget.Oct.4 sound like an idea?

from 17xinfinity

How about it, guys?
There's this tumblr page I follow - imagineyourotp - that posts little shippy prompts. A recent one made me think of a fic of mine that's been stuck in limbo for I won't say how long, so I posted a snippet.

I just got this in my Ask:

You wrote that "imagine your OTP" Royed thing about Ed being in a coma? OMG. If you finish it, maybe you could have Roy finally give in and kiss Ed and Ed wakes up because he got put in a coma by some sort of alchemy that works as a Sleeping Beauty sort of deal, and omg I can't believe I just wrote that. This is what my OTP does to me. They make me actually like terrible romantic clichés.

XD That sort of begs to be written, doesn't it? Problem is, crack really isn't my forté and the fic itself already has a planned ending. So does anyone want this? Please? I'd love to see it written!

comments

It's not until someone actually posts art to one of the comms that I realize I haven't seen a whole lot of art posts lately. And by "lately" I mean the past few years. I know fandom has slowed in general but I hadn't thought about that part of it.

I've been going so long not posting art - or much about art - here (on LJ/DW, I mean) that I don't really think about it. I kinda assume that people know where to go if they want to see it, but that's probably a false assumption. I wouldn't be surprised if most people on the comms at this point didn't know I do fanart. Not that I produce that much. (And no, I don't think I'll be posting art that's not attached to a fic or something else any time soon.)

I dunno, I just realized I kinda miss seeing art on the comms. But I wish they were more active in general, really.

comments
