Brotherhood eps. 52-54

Okay, that was well worth watching. On the whole, I thought Al's fight and Roy's fight came off better in the manga, but they were still amazing. But the end part of Roy's, in 54, was incredible. And the subtext - it doesn't even seem right to call it "subtext" anymore, more like all but spelling in out in BIG NEON LETTERS. And I thought it got strong in the manga, geez, that was nothing compared to Roy/Maes flashback central here.

And I'll be damned if I don't have a fem-crush on Olivia now. I mean, she's awesome in the manga, but that voice did me in. Apparently all it takes to make me question my sexuality is an amazing badass voice *coughPakuRomicough*

All I could think was "subtext my ass!" And I wonder if anybody else caught the subtle cruelty of Roy's remark to Riza--that if she shoots him, what will she do with her life? To me...there was a real jab hidden in his words. Granted he was furious--but if you've ever seen a gay man frustrated when a straight woman falls for him and makes a pest of herself and wrecks a friendship...Kind of like, "well, you've made me the center of your existence. I didn't ask for that. You chose to obsess. You kill me...then what are you going to get hung up on?" And her response? a threat of suicide.

And that scene...that scene...the montage...Roy's anguish. How the hell could ANY of those Royai shippers miss that?

Girlcrushing Olivia? Me too. In a heartbeat!

*impatient pee dance* Now I wanna seeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee it! Argh!

But I'm going to be a good girl and wait. *sigh* I'm only on, oh, episode 12. At this rate, I kinda feel like it's having to choke down an awful dinner to get to the dessert. D:

*nods* Big neon letters ten yards high.
It was kinda nice that at the end of the Hughes montage Gracia and Elysia were included. That had me going from 'Wow Roy maybe you should calm down a little, you're starting to look psycho' to 'the b*st*rd took away the adorable little girl's daddy! Roast him already!'
