LJ seems to be up for the moment, but - anyone care to move over to Dreamwidth?

Not permanently. Too dead over there. I'll continue to use it as a backup, though.

Meh, for better or worse, LJ is home.

Kind of self-fulfilling, though. Nobody goes over there because no one's over there, so nobody goes over there. I don't see a lot of back-ups, either, at least not from cross-posting.

(It'd be nice if people migrated over there, Dreamwidth doesn't freeze my goddam browser.)

I back up as far as periodic importing goes, I don't cross-post. If I ever decide to make a personal journal over there, I may start doing that but I don't do it for fic.

I think it would take something quite catastrophic on LJ's end for any sort of true exodus over to DW. There are a few people on my flist who crosspost, but not many, and I don't see it changing anytime soon.

Keeping everything backed up and as close to up-to-date as possible at DW.

Do you use their migrator periodically? I was never sure that wouldn't duplicate old posts or cross-posts.

Yes, I do use it, and rather often.

It will bring over every LJ post (comments included, and regardless if there is a similar or identical post already at DW), but once it has brought over an entry once it will not do so again or even *change* that entry (even if you have done so) unless the corresponding DW entry brought over from LJ is deleted. Security functions will.can be preserved, as well as bringing over the necessary filters (an open ID will be assigned to all friended journals). Icons can also be imported.

Dreamwidth is okay, but I'm just too settled where I am. Even then I suck at posting right now... :F

I was thinking more as a place to do when LJ is down. As it is, it seems most people flail and panic that they can't connect with anyone and then walk away.

(Though it would be nice not to have to force-quit my browser because of the adds, I realize everyone's too entrenched in LJ.)
