So what does one need to do to get a beta? It seems posting "NEED BETA PLZ" hasn't done the trick. Not sure what else to do here.

Er, what fandom would it be? There's usually comms for betaing specific fics.

...or as a last resort you could go to the Pit and find a beta using their Beta Reader thingamajig.
