Hmm...I already have an IJ where the majority of my fic is backed up, but now that you list these other choices I might go check them out...I really hate IJ's interface, it just rubs me the wrong way, even the stuff they ripped off of LJ.
I mirror my fics at IJ as well, but I deal with them mostly through a client. I'm not terribly fond of their interface, either. I technically have a Dead Journal, but I haven't accessed it in years. I don't know if I'd even remember my password ^^;.
I dunno; it'll probably depend on where the masses go.
I have an IJ but I really don't like it and it appears GJ is dead in the water and I have one there as well I NEVER go on. I just hope nothing happens to LJ, seriously since I now have a permanent account >.> ...
I guess I should back up my LJ tonight if I have time or perhaps I'll do it by the weekend.
GJ is dead? I didn't know that. There goes that option...
I doubt LJ is actually going to go away, at least at the moment. At most we'll probably see a reduction in features and more ads. Still. It makes one worry.
Well last I remember, last year maybe, GJ was not doing anything to fix anything from what I remember. I couldn't get help from them on navigating and setting up my same layout and mood themes so I gave up.
IJ I just set up an account back with the strike through freakout and haven't done crap yet. I would agree with you with the ads and reduction of items but I doubt its going to go away too fast. Perhaps the reduction in staff WAS to help keep it afloat who knows. People sometimes panic for the wrong reason.
I've already saved myself a blogger and a wordpress blog under crazyloststar, just because i can't handle the way that other journals i have looked at look. :(
Hopefully we can make something work though so that everyone stays somewhat together/in the know.
I am still looking into both of these sites and messing around with them, but really, I don't think we will see the kind of community that LJ has on WP or blogger. The friend pages are coming along, though I prefer WP for that, but still definitely not the same. rawr.
But I need a pretty layout, dammit. LJ just better not shut down, it would make things easier. >

Do blogger and wordpress have anything like the community/networking features LJ does? I think I'd miss my friends' page and the comms the most.
