What a difference a translation makes

Huh. That is one heck of a difference. 'Specially in Roy's case. Makes him a lot more cool in that scene.

Isn't it? He goes from woe-is-me to determined and resourceful. I kinda felt like "Ohai Roy, I'd wondered where you'd gone." And Winry's line annoys me a whole lot less without the "I wouldn't want a
boring
guy" undertones.

Presumably he was off looking for better translators while a carboard cutout did a stand in for him.
Winry's line annoys me a whole lot less without the "I wouldn't want a boring guy" undertones.
