. . .

No takers on the beta'ing. I wish I could say I was surprised, but I couldn't even get a steady beta back when the fandom was active. Maybe because I'm asking for more than proof-reading? Pretty discouraging, though.

Have you tried comms like http://find-me-a-beta.livejournal.com or http://fandom-betas.livejournal.com? I found my first beta like that. It's worth a try, right? And a total stranger might be better for the fic than a loyal friend, even.

That might be my next step. I was kinda hoping to find someone who was a least a bit familiar with my stuff, since I'd be asking them to jump into the middle, but maybe I was expecting too much. But it seems like most people get beta'd by others in the fandom and I'm kinda - more than kinda - wondering why I seem to be the exception to that.

Yeah i'm terrible about actually getting back to people.

And so is everybody, apparently. Or else there's some reason no one wants to beta my stuff.

Look, i know what you're implying here, and you can't let yourself think that's true okay? I know i enjoy reading your fic. Hell, I've left you comments, and I have to be pretty moved to get out of my natural lurker mode.

I know - but this is at least the third time I've put out a plea on the comms for a beta. Most people seem to find betas within the fandom but I must be missing how. Between that and having two betas drop me with no explanation after only a couple of fics, yeah, it starts to get to me.
