The funny thing is, when I first started this storyline, none of that with Roy was planned. Somewhere along the line I realized that that was actually the story I was telling, but I'm still not quite sure how it happened. Like the confrontation scene - Roy saying that yes I'm a murderer - was always planned, but I didn't realize until later the emotional effect it would have on him.
