Finally - finally - FMA: Brotherhood is starting to get good. The pace has mellowed out and they're starting to actually tell the story, not shove it at the viewer in fast-forward. There are little things I could nitpick, but overall, I'm finally starting to feel like I'm watching something that could live up to the Fullmetal Alchemist name. Scar was freaky dangerous, the scene of him chasing Ed and Al through the city actually felt like their lives were in danger. The "stop being an idiot!" confrontation between Ed and Al was perfect, that's the Al I love from the manga.

I just want to pretend the first three episodes didn't exist. They're kinda similar to the Harry Potter movies, where they illustrate the story all right, but don't stand well on their own.

Edit: Ummm, guys? What Hughes/Roy? Seriously, are men not allowed to have friendships?

Oh, I agree! For once I was *caught up* in the story, not sitting there analysing it to pieces. And I so hurt for Ed when he sat there in the rain--that 'tear' rolling down Al's cheek was a nice touch. And they have finally established the friendship between Roy and Hughes--probably because they're about to kill him soon...a lot more heart in this one. And that dream sequence in the middle was appropriately horrific. Very good job!

The nightmare came off so well! Especially with watching him hunch over his knee afterwards. They left out the "it hurts..." from the manga, but it was so effective I didn't care. And then during the fight with Scar, when Ed tried to scramble back and fell on his empty shoulder, I just wanted to reach through the screen and huggle him. And having Scar stand over Ed like that...
I have my fingers crossed that they'll continue in this vein ^^.

Sorry, but I was ALL ABOUT the Hughes/Roy...! I mean it was just so ♥♥♥♥♥ ! But I've been told that I can see yaoi in a paper bag, so... yeah. ^___^

I loved the Ed/Al confrontation, too. Ed was SO EMO OMG!! They kept showing his little face all freaked out...! *snuggles him* And I loved when Roy showed up and told Scar off, they did that really well! I'm really pleased with it! ^__^

I just get a little weirded out by the every relationship is a romantic relationship view point. It's like platonic friendships don't exist.

OMG,I wanted to snuggle Ed through most of this episode. And Scar was so damn freaky. And Roy! I still can't get used to his new voice, but damn, those were great scenes!

LOL I know, fangirls are notorious for that. I remember over in Harry Potter, it was like, EVERY scene in the movies with Harry and Snape in the same room, the Snarry fangirls were like, "FEEL THE UST!!!" And I'm like, um... no? (okay, so maybe that ONE scene where he points the wand right at his crotch, but other than THAT...) We're all just ridiculously obsessed with our ships, and that's the end of it.

I know, poor Edo, I was like, noooooooooooo!! Al really let him have it, though, that was fantastic...! And yeah, Roy is bringing sexy back, as usual...! ^_~

Heh, yeah, the obsession can get a little rabid XD. I'm a little o_O about the reaction to this because I can easily see Maes/Roy in a lot of things - but this ep. wasn't even nearing the boundaries of "friendship" for me. (I swear there were closet Roy/Ed and Maes/Roy shippers working on the first anime, though c_c)

I know us Yaoi fangirls can just go rabid at times ^^ ... but seriously the episode was truly fantastic. Scar is just so hardcore, more so than in the first. Armstrong is not just a character that only likes to flex his muscles ... which is good he has some serious depth. I say this was definitely one of the best so far.

I don't think it's just yaoi fangirls so much as shippers in general, considering the amount of squee there was over the (pretty much non-existent) Roy/Riza in chapter 94 ^^.

Armstrong and Scar were both great in this episode, I felt like cheering. I can only hope the episodes continue like this.

Yeah I would have to agree I didn't see any Roy/Riza "romance" in that either ... more like I'll watch your back you watch mine like comrades.

Armstrong is so much better with his intensity only flashing at funny moments is great! (Loved Riza's line, "Why is he naked ...") I loved when Scar couldn't get over how fast Armstrong was moving and Armstrong told Roy or Hughes, he was just trying to stay alive, lol.
