Mom: (on subject of leaving cat food out for a stray we're adopting) Other cats might get it, but I don't think we need to worry about possums around here.

(later that evening)
Me: (opens door to find possum, complete with baby, on the porch not three feet from the door) ... ... What was that you were saying about possums?


Now, I know we have possums in this area, I've nearly run over them once or twice coming home late, but I never expected to see one that close to the front door.
