dragonimp: (Oh noes!)
For the record, my Dreamwidth journal ([personal profile] dragonimp) is still up during LJ's DDoS attacks. It mirrors both [livejournal.com profile] dragonimp and [livejournal.com profile] impishclawmarks.

Wow.

How not to respond to a review. Especially when the most negative thing in that review is that the work has technical errors that make it hard to read. This is when you thank the reviewer and go in search of an editor, not accuse the reviewer of lying and start telling people to "fuck off".

Even if the reviewer is completely off their rocker you don't do that. Not in a public space for potential readers to see.

Professionalism. It is a good thing.

Just a reminder that the [livejournal.com profile] help_japan auction bidding ends on the 31st. My offerings are here for fic and here for art. [livejournal.com profile] bob_fish compiled a comprehensive list of everyone in the fma fandom here.

Happy bidding!

I know the Novel Conundrum style was having some issues recently, but so far I hadn't seen any problems on [livejournal.com profile] impishclawmarks so I left it. But uuuhhh... this is what I found this evening....

But only on Safari. It shows up fine on Firefox, I haven't been able to check IE or Chrome.

I guess I'll wait to see if it sorts itself out? I really like that style :(.

The user name almost looks like it's trying to speak Elvish or something...

Addendum: Oh gracious, it's wreaking havoc with my italics, too o_o;;. Though oddly enough, the characters come through fine if you copy/paste them.

I'll be participating in the auction to help Japan, I'm offering fic and art. Come help out if you can, a lot of wonderful people are offering a lot of different things.

The tsunamis are hitting us here in CA; I can only imagine how much worse they are in Japan. As if the earthquake itself wasn't bad enough.

My heart goes out to those effected by this.

This is quite possibly my new favorite song. I wish my stations played it more often.

Looks like good old El Jay is playing fast and loose with the comment notifications (again).

Okay, something non-emo. We've been experimenting with making flax chips/crackers, and I had the thought to make them into "cookies". They turned out pretty good, so here's the recipe. We got 21 cookies out of this and figured them to be about 3-4 carbs each, most of which is from the chips.

1 cup flax meal
stevia or other sweetener equal to about ½ cup sugar*
¼ tsp blackstrap molasses
½ cup of the darkest chocolate chips you can find**
cinnamon, allspice, cloves, and other spices to taste

Soak the flax meal in enough water to let it expand to about twice its volume for about 1 hour, or until the water is absorbed. Add the sweetener and stir well, breaking up any lumps (both the flax and the sweetener). Stir in the other ingredients. Drop from a tablespoon onto a cookie sheet covered in a silicon baking sheet or parchment paper (the silicon works best). "Bake" the cookies in the oven at about 200º until they're dry, about 3-4 hours. I found they dry out better on the silicon, while the parchment seemed to hold in the water. You might have to flip them over halfway through. You can also stick them in a food dehydrator if you have the right kind of shelf, though they take longer.

*Check the package; a lot of artificial sweeteners include dextrose or maltodextrin, which adds carbs.

**The darker the chocolate, the fewer the carbs. We used 60% cacao bittersweet, and I'm keeping a look out for any 70% or higher.

As you can probably tell, we're still working out the finer points, but the recipe is very forgiving. Next time I might try adding some daVinci chocolate flavoring instead of the chips and lower the carbs even further.

Captcha didn't work. Anonymous comments now disabled. Argh.

Oy.

Anyone else been getting the anonymous comment spam lately? It's not a lot, but it's annoying. I've set anonymous comments to have a Captcha, and hopefully that'll deter them; I don't really want to disable anonymous commenting, but I don't really care to hear about Indian London escort girls or the like.

I climbed on my bed to use the blankets as a reference, and my cat was all "Ohai ur here to gives me loves!!" and proceeded to get in my way however he could, which included walking all over the blankets (and thus changing the folds), sticking his nose in my face, and gnawing on the sketchbook. He would've gone after the pencil, too, if I'd been using a regular one. Now he's looking at me over the folds of the blankets like "I never said you could leave."

Woke up with a sinus headache. In the middle of the night, actually, but it was still there in the morning. Probably from being outside all day. Sitting in the sun for most of that probably didn't help much. The sidewalk sale/art event went ... okay. People weren't really in a buying mood. But still, it was worth going to, if only for the experience and practice set-up/take-down etc.

An artist I like is extolling the virtues of manga Roy/Riza and I am very solidly keeping my mouth shut. But she's also the one who found Ed too young to drool over so yeah, I think I'll stay over here in my corner and just enjoy that she's enjoying the series.

(And Roy looks funky in her style. I normally like her work, but Roy did not come off well. Riza looks cute, though.)

It's a day late, but happy Imbolic! Spring is nigh.
