ants

Summer = ant season around here. I happens every year, so it's not like it catches us by surprise. They're irritating little pests, but not that much of a bother, as long as certain precautions are taken.

However - I was out in the yard this morning, dead-heading our roses, working my way around a clump of bushes. It was taking some concentration because they're quite dense, and I'm going to say that's why it took me as long as it did to realize I had been smelling ants. By the time I'd clued in and looked down - my shoes, and the lower part of my pants, were swarming with the little black pests. I must have been standing on or right by a nest, because they were all over.

Of course for about an hour afterwards I couldn't be sure if I was feeling phantom ants or real ones.

Around here we have fire ants EVERYWHERE---lord, they are so awful and aggressive---not to mention I'm allergic to the little fraggers. One halloween my neighbor got some inflatable giant fire ants from the Wal-Mart dumpster (they were for an Amdro display.) We got peat moss and built a four foot tall ant mound--and my neighbor's boyfriend let us bury him up to the neck in the mound so it looked like he'd been dragged off...god, that was so damn funny!

eek, giant ants of any kind would be frightening XD Thankfully I've never had to deal with fire ants - the ones we have are annoying, but not dangerous!

We call black ants 'pissants' because the only thing they really do is piss you off!

My phobia is mostly limited to spiders now. I've gotten somewhat desensitized to ants, but that doesn't mean I want them crawling all over me! DX

Ick. I hate the little black ants. They're annoying. We've had a strange mix of fire ants and pissants this year. Urgh. >_

They are annoying :P And they get everywhere!!
