Y'know, I think I might be more upset about Michael Jackson if I hadn't already mourned for him over a decade ago. Michael Jackson was my first celebrity crush* when I was a kid, and many of his songs and videos are amazing. As an entertainer, the man was simply gifted. But that Michael Jackson died some time in the nineties. What we were left with was something rather sad and frightening that I could hardly have cared less about. So it's sad that he died, and tragic that he died at 50, but I mourn more for the train-wreck of a path his life took over the last few decades.


*First celebrity crush on a real person - Derek Wildstar doesn't count.

With you there. He wasn't my crush, but he was good looking once, and it's sad how bad his life went.

That pretty much sums it up, although I never had a crush on him and I also mourn all the lives he likely screwed up on his own sad trajectory.

I would agree with that. I grew up with him in the Jackson 5 and then when he made "Off the Wall" and then "Thriller" (that was released the year I graduated high school) he was awesome ... then when "Bad" was released things started to change and after that became the death of a pop star. I mean the bizarre changes, etc. just was too sad and yes very frightening to watch. Last night they kept showing more recent footage and I was just like what the hell happened he was a very good looking young man that just went awry.
