With my wacky evenings work schedule and sporadic days off, along with all the projects that need to be done around the house (not to mention, y'know, housework), in order to get time to write I've been printing out the last few pages of my story and working on them during my lunch break. Which means I'm writing in 30-45 minute spurts, often while trying to ignore my lovely co-workers. Yesterday I was trying to work up to a rather sticky scene (the plot is happening! Noooo!) while two of my co-workers loudly discussed first sports (I couldn't care less) and then why athletes shouldn't become actors and actors shouldn't become politicians, and our current political situation and gods it was annoying. But I can't really get mad because that's what the breakroom is for, right? It also doesn't help that no one seems to like having the lights on but me, and the lightswitch - for some reason - is on the ceiling. I usually use my waterbottle to turn it on, but when there are other people in the room it's kinda odd.

I'm also writing by hand, of course, and my handwriting isn't the neatest. I also don't think about how much I reword and change direction when I'm typing because I just type over things, but when I'm writing it out by hand I end up with lots of scribbled out words and ^s everywhere. I also don't get as good a picture of the scene when I'm reading handwriting as opposed to type. I suspect that's part of why Part 9 ended up as long as it did, although it probably would have been long anyway. It's hard to tell how much of it was just that part of the story and how much of it was influenced by how it was written.

Someone told me I needed a laptop, but after my wallet dissapeared from the lockerroom, I would really be uncomfortable bringing a few thousand dollar piece of equipment to work that doesn't even fit in my locker. So writing by hand it is.
