Working to retrain my posture means I have a bunch of muscles going "what the hell, you never made me do that before." But I much prefer this discomfort to the "don't even think of moving properly" pain of a herniated disc. But trying to hip-hinge with tight hamstrings, ow >_<.

Highly recommend this book, by the way. For people who've had back problems and also for those of us who were simply never taught proper posture (i.e., most of the industrialized world). It focuses on how our bodies are supposed to work.

*hugs on you*

I too live with chronic back pain so my heart goes out to you. I didn't know you had a herniated disc (damn me for not keeping up with my Flist)

Thanks for the tip about the book ^_^

Ug, yah, this started back in March... just getting to the point in the last few weeks where I can move without worrying -_-. The book takes an anthropological approach to posture and movement, and looks at cultures with low rates of back problems - it makes a lot of sense. Retraining 30 years of bad habits isn't easy, but, well ^^;
