What are the pros/cons of the media-hosting sites like Send Space, Mediafire, Megaupload, etc? Which would be the best to go with for casual use?

I used Megaupload primarily because I have a paid account there. I am happy with it, although I think other sites don't have the same types of restrictions on free accounts with regards to storage and whatnot, although I could be wrong. I can also go long periods of time without using MU without fear of having my account deleted; I recently got an email from Mediafire warning me of that although I just had to sign on real quick to avoid that. In terms of downloading, MU does limit free accounts to X amount of usage daily (don't remember off the top of my head), which can get annoying, but even so, overall, I'm quite content. I do know that some people have issues downloading from them though, so if you have content you're sharing with others, you may want to keep that in mind.

I think if you're just using it casually, they're probably all the same across the board, though again, I don't know enough about the others to say for certain.

**Forgot to mention: MU does a reward point program. You get a point per download. Right now, I'm almost at 10,000 points, which gives me one month premium membership free. There's also cash incentives. Granted, you have to download a freaking LOT to get them, but still, just thought I'd mention it.

I use Mega-upload myself and only have limited experience with Send Space and none to speak of with Mediafire. I am happy with Meagupload it's really user friendly IMO.

The free version rocks if you don't need to do a whole lot there.

The limit of usage per-day might be an issue; I want to post a fan-mix and don't want to use my (mom's) bandwidth, and I have no idea how many people would be downloading it. I might put it up on two services just to be sure.

So far I only want to upload one zip file, so I could probably get away with a free account. Have you ever run into anyone not being able to get the file due to a download limit?

No I haven't so I'd think you'd be good to go!! Sorry I don't have more first hand experience with uploads to offer. Let us know how it turns out ^_^

I love SendSpace and Mediafire. They are both fast and no limits.

No limits is good... I kinda hesitate over MegaUpload because of that "wait 45 seconds to download" thing and I was hoping the others didn't have worse issues.

That is my main beef with it. I just find mediafire faster and easier to use.
