- Meant to Live - Switchfoot
- Dreaming about Providence
And whether mice or men have second tries
Maybe we've been livin with our eyes half open
Maybe we're bent and broken, broken - Roy's theme: wanting to change the world.
- Dreaming about Providence
- Dare You to Move - Switchfoot
- Welcome to the fallout
Welcome to resistance
The tension is here
The tension is here
Between who you are
And who you could be
Between how it is
And how it should be yeah - Ed's theme - get up and walk.
- Welcome to the fallout
- Uncertainty - The Fray
- Thousands are lost, maybe more
the question remains what is this for?
maybe it came unexpected
maybe I'm left unprotected
oh and thats the last place
yeah thats the last place
and when we forget our regrets
and when we remember our dreams
and when we forget our regrets
and we regret - A theme for them both: doubts, regrets, second thoughts, but they fight on
- Thousands are lost, maybe more
- The Story - Brandi Carlile
- You see the smile that's on my mouth
Is hiding the words that don't come out
And all of my friends who think that I'm blessed
They don't know my head is a mess
No, they don't know who I really am
And they don't know what I've been through but you do
And I was made for you - They've both been through hell. It puts them in a unique position to understand each other, and would be a lot of their foundation.
- You see the smile that's on my mouth
- Ever the Same - Rob Thomas
- We would stand in the wind
We were free like water
Flowing down
Under the warmth of the sun
Now it's cold and we're scared
And we've both been shaken
Hey, look at us man...
This doesn't need to be the end! - This one should surprise no one. Supporting each other in dark times, always there to prop the other up.
- We would stand in the wind
- Catalyst - Anna Nalick
- When you say love is a simple chemical reaction
Can't say I agree
'Cause my chemical, yeah, left me a beautiful disaster
Still love's all I see - And never giving up on each other, even when they seem to be sabotaging themselves.
- When you say love is a simple chemical reaction
- Chariot - Gavin DeGraw
- Oh chariot, your golden waves
Are walking down upon this face
Oh chariot, I'm singing out loud
To guide me, give me your strength - I could take or leave the radio version of this song, but this recording really hits me. It speaks of wistful adoration and looking for support, and really seems to fit the boys.
- Oh chariot, your golden waves
- Never Say Never - The Fray
- Picture, you're the queen of everything
As far as the eye can see
Under your command
I will be your guardian
When all is crumbling
To steady your hand - If you ignore the fact that he says "queen" (hee ^_^), this could be Ed, to Roy. Support through uncertainty.
- Picture, you're the queen of everything
- All I Know - Brother
- All I want is you to see
How you burn inside me
All I need is you to know
That you never leave me - Passion and obsession - our main theme.
- All I want is you to see
- Collide - Howie Day
- even the best fall down sometimes
even the wrong words seem to rhyme
out of the dark that fills my mind
we somehow find
you and I collide - Even when things go wrong - and things will inevitably go wrong, with these two - they still come together, sometimes in spite of themselves.
- even the best fall down sometimes
- Disease - Matchbox Twenty
- I got a disease
Deep inside me
Makes me feel uneasy baby
I can't live without you
Tell me what I am supposed to do about it
Keep your distance from it
Don't pay no attention to me
I got a disease - And no matter how much they drive each other crazy, they keep coming back.
- I got a disease
- In the Rough - Anna Nalick
- You say you fell while holding diamonds in your hands
"It's your fault for running, holding diamonds," I said
And I offer no sympathy for that
I hear that it was you who died alone
And I offer no sympathy for that
Better off I sparkle on my own - Another one that should surprise no one. If their relationship does crumble, this is one way I could easily see it going.
- You say you fell while holding diamonds in your hands
- Light On - David Cook
- Never really said too much
Afraid it wouldn’t be enough
Just try to keep my spirits up
When there’s no point in grieving
Doesn’t matter anyway
Words could never make me stay
Words will never take my place
When you know I’m leaving - This seems to be the perfect song for the end of the first series, Ed to Roy.
- Never really said too much
- Raise Your Voice to Mine - Delicious Blue
- challenge me
I defy you
height with height
hold my sword to you
pit myself against you
cry to me
I mourn with you
keening to keening
walk the dark with you
offer solace to you - This, to me, is the crux of their relationship. Head to head and toe to toe, but always there to prop the other one up.
- Before anyone says "but I've never heard of Delicious Blue," they were a tiny little indie band I heard play at a friend's uni graduation back in '98, where they were selling a CD that had four of their songs on it. I don't think they exist anymore, which is sad, because I thought they were good.
- challenge me
