I suppose I should've posted the memes separate from the request for a beta, but I doubt it would've made a difference to either.

Just in general I miss being able to talk about writing. I miss being able to geek out and I miss the hey I'm stuck help me figure out what this character is doing kind of thing and I miss critical feedback. I know I'm too close to my own writing to see it clearly.

And I'm going to shut up before I dig this any deeper.

Hey I just wanted to let you know that you're not talking to a total void - I know we don't talk much but I DID see your request for a beta and I would be happy to look it over later - but right now I have a SUPER SERIOUS DEADLINE on the 26th and I'm not doing much except sleeping and animating.

If you'd still like someone to look it over next month when my schedule should (hopefully) clear up - please let me know.

I'm sorry you haven't gotten much response and you have my sympathy. I would like to help out, I just can't until my film is finished.

It's looking like the timing is really bad right now in general.

These are for the help_japan auction so I don't want to delay them too much, but there's no real time limit. I know you don't care much for Roy/Ed though. What I ultimately want is someone I can keep shooting fics to so I don't have to go through this every time I finish a chapter.

No prob, I understand. I'm ok with Roy/Ed actually (it's been a long time, I'm honestly not that into FMA anymore) so if you ever need help, let me know. I just wanted to say something so you'd know that SOMEONE reads this at least, and that I'm willing to help if you'd like me to :)

I was rather confused about that post... I couldn't tell if you were asking for a beta or what exactly it was about, I'm afraid, and if you *were* looking for a beta, did you forget my previous offer?

I can Beta most Roy/Ed stuff, sometimes other fandoms, but it will be for grammar and major plot errors/holes. Within a single chapter my plot error finding gets much better.

Original fic I get a *lot* better with the beta'ing, simply because I haven't read almost every possible permutation the human mind can think of over the years so that it's all become a great jumble.

I will likely be going to my grandparents' in Oregon within a week, but I am informed that they have internet (so I will take my laptop and a router), and in the meantime I have a *very* fast turn-around time.

If you don't want to have stuff beta'd (or don't *just* want to have stuff beta'd) I can talk world building and that sort of thing in general.

I remembered I'd gotten offers from a few people, but I couldn't remember which had been one-time offers and which weren't. I posted to see which offers were still open and who had the time (though I think I confused things with posting the memes. The comment about scaring people away was because the memes got no response, but they often don't). But a lot of this post was a general grumble that I don't seem to be able to talk about writing lately. Much of that is probably me and how I handle the computer and social media, but I'm not really sure what other people are doing differently.

There's two I want beta'd at the moment, one a PWP that kinda skirts the line of contrived and I want to make sure it's still believable. The other is a chapter of Collared, and my two big concerns there are making sure everyone is still in character within the AU setting, and trying not to plot myself into a corner. If you want to take a look at one or both there isn't really a deadline, so if you can't get to it before you leave that's not a problem.

Go ahead and send both my way. I vaguely recall Collared (and have located the first two posted bits for a reread if necessary), and I assume the other one is a new storyline?

I'll take a look at both, and my turn around time should be about 24 hours or less (I pretty much jump on beta work as soon as I get it - Rainjoy can tell you how fast I can pass things back. I just don't tend to sit on anything, and it is *okay* to keep passing things back and forth even at a rapid rate. It is because I do things this way that I don't take on too many authors at once for beta work).

As a heads up my journal and comment writing is *casual*. I can actually adhere to strict grammar and spelling, which I generally do for beta/editing work unless it's a speaking bit (character's will speak how they will, and will only get suggested corrections for falling out of their own speaking structures).

What I've found to be the best method for fast internet beta'ing is to receive a text file, make comments in red text (I do not actually change anything already written, I write comments instead pointing out changes/corrections), and then send it back. The reason I do things this way is because anything I say will be a *suggested* change. As I am a beta and not a publishing house the author will always have the final say, so I never change or add to the author's actual original words. Anything I write will be in red so it's easily spotted for either changing, thinking upon, or removing (rejecting the suggestion).

My strong suit with anything FMA at this point is definitely grammar and spelling (I've tried rewatching the first show and movie, but fanfiction has diverged so far at this point that I just do my best to keep both the show and the current fanfiction conventions in mind for character coherency/diversion to keep things from getting too off course).

I do think I can manage what you'd like done, though if you decide to toss things at a second beta afterwards I won't mind. If you/we decide that we work well together then you are welcome to use me as an Always Available beta.

Now that I am finally at the end of this comment... my email address! temarrea [at] yahoo [dot] com.

Yeah, the other one is a stand-alone that will be at most 2 parts (and only because it outgrew itself), basically pure porn.

Okay! I'll send them out later today after I export them as .rtf files. They'll be coming from the email teyindahl-at-yahoo.
