Does the anime give a figure for the number of people caught in the Liore array? Even a general figure like "hundreds" or "thousands" would be helpful.

Hmmm good question ... because not only were the inhabitants of Liore caught in Scar's array but also the soldiers that Archer sent and he was affected as well ... so I would say in the "thousands". Remember Ed made Roy and his team stay back ... AND some soldiers were already stationed there before more were sent in and died.

I thought the townfolk got out and it was just the soldiers..? But I don't remember how big a company Archer sent in, if it was stated at all.

I would have to rewatch that episode ... I thought I remembered some kids and all still about ... maybe not. I do remember an armless Scar, dead Kimblee, Al and the soldiers and then the array ... if you count out the townfolk then I would venture in the "hundreds" I mean but why was Archer going there? I think to capture Scar with a few hundred men BUT he was being controlled by Bradley too.

Hi, just stumbled upon this, I think I have an answer..hope you don't mind :D

If I recall correctly, the anime (meaning the dub, I've never seen the Japanese version) says it's about 7000 people total - Envy mentions it in episode 49 to Al. But that number includes the Ishballans that Scar's brother had taken in so I'd venture the soldiers that were caught in the array in actual Liore was probably from two to three hundred, the majority being the Ishballans. I don't think Archer had the power to command troops of a higher number than that, and he was the one who sent in the troops in Liore.

The people of Liore were not caught in the array at all, it was only the soldiers. The people escaped through the route that Scar and Dante designed.

Ah, that would make sense if that number included the Ishvalans - I've seen "thousands" used in fic, but Liore is not a big town, I can't imagine how Archer could justify that many soldiers. So I'll assume it was in the hundreds.

Thanks!
