Random thought: I should cosplay as Lust from Fullmetal Alchemist. Just because it would be such a departure for me. And just, y'know, because I could. No way I could get a costume together for AX, though. Maybe another time.

Overdying helped the purple a lot. The lavender might even work with it. It's dark, but at least there's enough contrast. Yay. I got a wig and tights today, but I still need a scarf. I, um, kinda forgot about it c_c;. I'll go to the fabric store tomorrow, maybe. Now to get everything sewn!

What wig did you get?

And I think Lust would actually be a fun character for you to cosplay. I have a bunch of Fullmetal Alchemist cosplay planned..so if you'd like to do it, by all means. You probably haven't seen this far into the series yet, but you get some interesting flashbacks about Lust..and there's an alternative version of her outfit/self/etc. that you might be interested in doing. It's a more interesting/challenging costume, and could be a lot of fun for you!

Also, when are you and your mother arriving down here? I forget. If you come before the con starts, I hope you can stop in to visit me, maybe..? Ah, only if you have time, of course.

Also, I've made a new friend and cosplay partner who has long hair similar to yours in texture/thickness/length...and I've been helping her learn to wear it under a wig. If you can, try to experiment a little before the con, just to get a feel for how the wig is like...you'll need a wigcap, and i fyou can't find any, they're easy to make out of old pantyhose.

Best method we've found so far is seperating hair into lots of small little braids, and pinning them to the head in small coils. But if you're thinking of getting any matter of haircut, doing it right before AX may be prudent. The less hair you have to cram under your wig, the better.

It's a "Peggy Sue" wig in "natural red" - they didn't have orange. I did get a wig cap, but I haven't tried it all on yet. No haircuts planned, though :). You'll have to show me the alternate Lust outfit. (Although I do like her "cocktail dress" look.)

So far the plan is to drive down Thursday and stay at your place Thursday night, and then check into the hotel on Friday when we get to the con. That works?

And *chuckle* I didn't really mean a *haircut* haircut but..you know, if you plan to get it evened out/trimmed/managed in any way, that's the time to do it. With Jacki we may be thinning out her hair in the back, just a little, to make it more managable...but again, not necessary. She'll be wearing *lots* of wigs, so for her it's useful.

I like Lust's cocktail dress outfit as well, so if you plan to do her, let me know! I'd love to help out somehow. And it's great because you can use your natural hair for her *nod*

You staying here Thursday night is more than fine. Any idea what time you'll be arriving? I'm planning to go to the con on Thursday night (I believe from 1 to 5?) because you can pick up y our con badge then, and thus avoid long lines on Friday morning. But yes - we can take out your wig and practice getting it on you and make sure all the costume stuff is in order. I'm planning to do Velma on Friday morning...will t hat be alright for you? My schedule for the con is soooo full, I have so many costumes I'm doing. Oh! Have you had any luck with Hanajima? If not, it's no big deal, just wanted to ask.

Hm...on Friday, while you and your mom are checking into your hotel, my friends and I can get into t he registration line for you, so you don't have quite as long of a wait ahead of you..what do you say? Since we all have cell phones now, finding each other won't be so painful....

Just to let you know, I'm going to have two other people staying with me over the convention, and I'm planning to spend a lot of time with them, though I definately want to hang out with you for Scooby Doo stuff, and of course you're welcome to join us any time you like. Phones make this easy! *_* But yes, maybe this weekend we can talk on said phones, so we can plan a bit more...but I figure that Thursday night, you and your mom can get the futon, Jacki and I can share my bed, and my other friend, Ben, can grab a sleeping bag in the TV area. I think you'll like both Ben and Jacki. Very nice people.

Anyway, good luck on making the costume! I'm sure it'll be gorgeous, and I can't wait to see it! *hugs*

Oh, one last note on wig caps - you may want to get a few more (two? Three just to be safe?), and make sure to have plenty of hair supplies - hair pins, bobby pins, clips, things to tie hair off with that aren't big (like scrunchies, etc.). The reason being that once you put your hair up, you need to compress it as much as possible inside of the cap so that the wig will stay in place. And because you have long hair, you'll stretch out your wig cap..and just like a pantyhose that's been stretched, if they get too loose they dont' doa ny good.

I'm not sure of our timetable on Thursday, but we'll be driving during the day, so we shouldn't be late late. Friday works for me for the Daphne costume. I didn't get a chance to work on Hanajima at all ( :( ) so otherwise it'll just be my two Ranma costumes. I'm going to see if I can play with the wig either today or tomorrow, see if I can figure out what would work best for my hair.

So far we've gotten through the first 8 episodes of FMA - the DVDs only have 4 episodes each. Maybe when I have more money I'll buy the series... but right now I have to be content with renting it.
