Aug. 28th, 2003 09:39 amWell, we had quite a light-show the other night. Started maybe half and hour before midnight and continued until 1 or 2 in the morning (the majority of the clocks were out by then, so I don't really know). From what I heard, it was probably the biggest electrical storm we've ever had 'round here. The flashes of lightning were coming very close together, so that it was sometimes hard to tell which thunder belonged to which flash, and the thunder was so loud at times that it shook the house. Our power went out right after a big (and close!) lighting flash, right after I had unplugged the computers. It didn't go on again until about 10:00 the next morning. We kept hearing sirens, too, and someone told me the next day that there had been a couple fires. Whether they were started by a lightning strike or not I don't know. There was also what sounded like an air raid siren for a while, although we're not certain what it was or even where it was coming from (however, if it was an air raid siren, then there's really only one place it could've been coming from).
My alarm has battery back-up, so it keeps the time even though it doesn't display it. Odd thing was, the alarm also goes off. Not the radio alarm, however. So I'm looking at this blank clock after probably 5 hours sleep with the *beepbeep* alarm going off at the time I had set the radio to go off. I was not happy. Especially since I didn't have to get up for another 2 hours or so.
