Art contradiction

On a non-objective painting I'd just touched up:

Mom: It's ... I'm not sure I'd say it was muddy before, but it's much crisper now.
Me: Which, ironically, I did by muddying it in places.
Mom: o_O

She did get how that works after thinking about it for a moment, but her initial reaction was pretty amusing XD.

I actually had a similar reaction while I was painting ^_^ Art can seem paradoxical at times.
