How not to respond to a review. Especially when the most negative thing in that review is that the work has technical errors that make it hard to read. This is when you thank the reviewer and go in search of an editor, not accuse the reviewer of lying and start telling people to "fuck off".

Even if the reviewer is completely off their rocker you don't do that. Not in a public space for potential readers to see.

Professionalism. It is a good thing.

That's pretty sad...-_-; I got two reviews on my last fic I felt kinda bad about(mainly because I've been depressed to begin with) but I didn't take things that far. I took their critiques in stride as they were polite and helpful, and then went back and am currently reworking that chapter with their notes in mind...but really, telling them to fuck off is childish. I don't even do that when it comes to my amvs - even when they are being trolls from the start. That's just uncalled for. and it really does make her look like an idiot and low class to boot.

Yeah. In my experience, you come off much better in the end if you keep your head, even when that means stepping away and coming back to the comment later. I'm not sure what she thought she might accomplish by telling people to "fuck off" -not exactly making a strong case for "my book is great!"
