Should I continue to post segments of writing to this journal? I'd like to, I like sharing what I write with friends, but if there's no interest, I'll stop. It's not like I ever have all that much to put up, anyway.
You should post whatever you like in your journal - fic or otherwise. Not everyone comments on what they read - I should know having been a lurker on LJ months before I started posting (comments or otherwise).
You could also consider posting on fanfiction.net if that's the type of thing you write. That way you can see if people are hitting, alerting or favoriting.
I know lurking is common, that's why I'm asking. It's also discouraging - none of the writing I've posted on this journal has gotten any sort of response, positive or negative, even when I've specifically asked for feedback (which I don't like doing). Most of my original fiction ends up on Elfwood or my personal site eventually, but if nobody here is interested, I'm not going to bother posting it here as well. It effects my mood too damn much, more than it should, and I really don't need to be giving myself even more to deal with.
I can't speak for others, but for me, I barely have time to read LJ, and when I see fic for review on LJ, I want to read and review it, but I want to do it thoughtfully... which I really don't have time to do. So then I get stuck in that circle. That obviously doesn't help, but...
