Fanime is barely 4 weeks away so I'm in a bit of a frenzy. I probably don't need to be, but you have to understand the ADD sense of time: everything is either NOW ("OMGthismustgetdoneRIGHTAWAYpanicpanic") or NOT NOW ("eh....I'll do it later"). So to keep myself from doing things at the last minute (again), Fanime is very much NOW. I could go with what I have and be fine, as far as items for the table, but there's five pieces of art that I want to mat in hopes of displaying them in the art gallery (can't find anything on the art gallery on fanime's web site, which isn't helping any), small prints and bookmarks to make, and FOOD (we learned our lesson last year), and just generally assessing things and getting the display planned out. Oh, and I have to call the BOE because they've changed the rules and I need to get a sub-permit to sell at a separate location -_-;;. Which I can see the reason for, but it's one more thing to have to deal with.

Anyway, this means that things that don't have this deadline have been pushed aside for now. There's a growing list of "I'll do that after Fanime". Unfortunately some things can't wait, or wait long, like the overgrown weeds in the back yard. I'm sure someone with better time sense would be able to work more things in, but do with what we have ^^;

FMA: Hands Off
by ~dragonimp on deviantART

The WIP of this that I'd uploaded got snagged by the group History of Cool, which kind of made me scratch my head because:

1) I'd put in in my scrapbook which, as far as I know, do not show up on the main page so how did they find it? The keywords I used are pretty specific to FMA and it's not an FMA group. Best guess is someone who has me on their watch list, probably someone I've forgotten about because they never comment.

2) This has got to be the most random group I've seen, what is it even about? As far as I can tell it's just whatever anyone thought was cool.

3) Where did they put it? It's in my scrapbook but it doesn't look like groups have a scrapbook equivalent, so where the hell is it? ^^;

But eh, I'm glad someone thought it was "cool" XD

I've been more or less forgetting about Elfwood for lack of material to put up there. Today I got a comment notification and, of course, it's a troll comment 9_9. The few troll comments I've gotten have all been on Elfwood and only on the two naturalistic pastel portraits. Those seem to offend people's sensibilities or something, I dunno. But the things they pick to rag on amuse me.

And gaaaah I should really clean that gallery out, old art is old XP

Part of the fun of inking with a brush:

Ed's change of expression was completely unintentional. I don't shy away from fixing things in photoshop but in this case I liked the inked lines just as well as the pencils.

This is the picture with the splat, too, but you can't really see it in the colored version (sadly).

I dropped [livejournal.com profile] impishclawmarks down to basic and now the entry view is friggin' ugly... oops. Their little chart of features tells you you'll have fewer icons and no scrapbook, but doesn't mention that the entry/comment view will be not your journal style but the lj default and only the lj default.

Don't want to give them the advertising money, though.

I really rather hate this "holiday," it's far too often an excuse for mean-sprited and childish behavior. I'm in a shitty mood anyway, so I'm sorely tempted to fuck off and ignore the rest of humanity until the calendar turns to the 2nd. Too bad life is not that accommodating.

Had to get up early to take the Tabby-kitty to the vet, and they ended up not doing the procedure after all. She had some abnormal blood work so they didn't want to put her under for the teeth cleaning (and probably pulling). I'm sure Tabby would be happy if she understood, but as is she's a little miffed at us right now because we put her in that nasty box and took her to that evil place.

She's fine though, mostly. We just need to give her a round of antibiotics and then bring her back in for a check-up (that'll be fun). She's a hearty little thing, she just has bad teeth (probably from not chewing her food). Considering that she was mostly feral when we took her in she's done pretty well. She's a total sweetheart now, but she'll vanish into thin air as soon as a stranger comes around.

But yeah. Up early so I'm going to bed.

If I disabled the comments here, would you follow the link back to the DW post?

The short of it is, I don't like LJ's management and I don't trust LJ's management, and I'd much rather stay on DW. But I don't want to cut myself off from any of you. So, would you bother to take that extra click over to the other blog?

I'm on the way to being vanity sized out of existence. It's bad enough that it's nearly impossible to find pants that fit both my hips and my waist, but yesterday I was finding maybe one or two pairs in my size in any given brand, and if I was really lucky they wouldn't be the "short" cut. And of course, none of them really fit. When I do find some that fit, what usually seems to happen is that I will not be able to find that particular cut again (Gloria Vanderbilt), or the manufacturer will change the cut (Lee). But this did give me the motivation to finally rip the seams of an old and very warn pair of jeans that fit me damn near perfectly. I plan to trace the pieces and use that as a pattern to make my own, because it's getting to the point where the stores won't acknowledge my size exists, let alone my body type!

I haven't forgotten! I don't get to work on them as often as I'd like, but they're coming along.

I'm selling some of my old Disney figurines on eBay. If anyone wants to check them out the auctions are over here.

Anyway, remember the recipe for truffle balls I posted around Hallowe'en? I've been trying to come up with a version that doesn't use erythritol. Well - I haven't quite gotten that yet. But here's what the "failures" turned into:

Low-carb pudding and brownies.

The recipes are almost the same. The biggest difference, of course, is that one is baked and one is not.

It's not until someone actually posts art to one of the comms that I realize I haven't seen a whole lot of art posts lately. And by "lately" I mean the past few years. I know fandom has slowed in general but I hadn't thought about that part of it.

I've been going so long not posting art - or much about art - here (on LJ/DW, I mean) that I don't really think about it. I kinda assume that people know where to go if they want to see it, but that's probably a false assumption. I wouldn't be surprised if most people on the comms at this point didn't know I do fanart. Not that I produce that much. (And no, I don't think I'll be posting art that's not attached to a fic or something else any time soon.)

I dunno, I just realized I kinda miss seeing art on the comms. But I wish they were more active in general, really.

At least airline tickets are something I could have conceivably possibly bought at some point. This? No so much in the realm of reality.

Yeah, I dunno. They must be grabbing emails at random.

♥ Thank you guys for the v-gifts! They're so pretty!

And happy Valentine's to everyone, whether you have an "SO" or not - love you guys!

You were saying something about needing a CoS outfit for Ed?

The sleeves turned out too narrow, but otherwise the pattern works well. Needs a lighter weight fabric, though.

California's Proposition 8 ban on same-sex marriages is unconstitutional, a three-judge panel of the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled today in a much-anticipated decision from the nation's most populous state. The judges upheld a lower court's ruling.

From here but really, this story is everywhere right now.

This isn't the end of it by a long shot, but it's one more step in the right direction. I'm certain it's going to go to the Supreme Court next, which means yet another round of hoping and waiting, but still. One more step forward.
